Breakfast in Mora (Bloudan)

Syria...

Lots of us have beautiful memories that we have experienced in Syria.
Some of us visited occasionally, some lived there for a short period others still live there (despite the situation).
This blog is for us to share our memories of our beloved Syria, the places we have been to, the food we ate, scents we have smelled, laughs we have had...

One of my favorite memories is Breakfast in Mora (Bloudan).

My grandmother would wake up first and start by calling every one of her children, who in turn would wake us up one by one. Once every member of my family was up, of course after drinking the coffee, we would all meet under my grandmother's house and start our trip by following each other all the way to the restaurant.
Once at the restaurant, we would sit on our table, of course after changing it 3 or 4 times before the final decision on which table we were going to sit on was made.

Then breakfast was served! WOW!! Hummus, Tise'yeh bil Samneh, Tise'teh bil Zeit, olives, cheese plate of mixed freshly cut vegetables, Makdouss, and tea "ikrok 3ajam".

What can I say? YUMMY!!!!

I love you "Mora Memory".

  1. I loved that place :) that was our routine every friday, driving up to Mora with the family looking forward to the best "tisi2ye" and the fresh air of bloudan. Ahhhh nostalgia...

  2. The road to Bloudan itself was special. Our cat radio would be blasting, while we watch the climb up the mountain, passing by vegetable/fruit carts, coming up to the renovated Grand Bloudan Hotel with out parents' memories filtering through our car-talk. Ofcourse there were several other restaurants on the way, but Mora was the best place to be. We'd park our cars, and enter as a group.
The arcade along with the hyperactive waiters would greet us as we go down the stairs to our eventual table. Water fountains hum along with the music played.
We'd fill our lungs with the crisp fresh air.
Grandma always loved sitting at the table found in the lower level of the three sections of the place, under a towering yet loving tree that would screen us from the noon sun.
    Incredible!
